DT 07-011 Verizon Transfer of Assets and Sale to FairPoint

On January 16, 2007, Verizon Communications Inc. announced that it will spin off its fixed-line business in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont and merge it with rural telecommunications provider FairPoint Communications Inc. of North Carolina. The companies have said the deal is expected to be completed within the next 12 months.

Public Statement Hearings

Public statement hearings will be conducted by the public utilities commission to receive comment from the public. Comments will be recorded by a stenographer but will not be entered into evidence. The hearings will begin with a brief overview of the proposal from the petitioners.  After the overview, members of the public, who are not intervenors, will have an opportunity to make a statement before the commission.  Statements may also be submitted in writing to the commission’s executive director in Docket No. DT 07-011.

All hearings will begin at 7:00 p.m.
