Natural Gas vs Alternative Fuels
Although natural gas is a popular
energy choice in areas where it is available (see Communities Served Map link), it is not the only choice, particularly
in New Hampshire, where fuel oil is used to heat approximately
50% of NH homes. Natural gas is used in approximately
15 % and propane in about 10%. Electricity, wood, kerosene,
coal and others make up the balance of residential heating
fuel choices. Industrial users may also choose heavier
No. 6 residual oil as an alternative to natural gas.
